Sunday in London!

I am so behind on blogging and I am trying to catch up and so I can just write each night about that day.
On Sunday we went to the Hyde Park ward here in London because it was stake conference in the wards we will be serving in. We woke up early for church and walked there because we were not 100% sure if the tube stops were open and we didn't know which bus number to take. The weather has changed here for the worse (it is in the 40's) and so we walked a mile (or longer) to church in the freezing cold and rain!

Church was amazing though! We sat in the cultural hall because they like to have the members (who are not always so active) sit in the sacrament meeting room. It was fast Sunday and so it was so neat to hear of their wonderful testimonies. It made me realize how easy I have it and how blessed I am to live somewhere where the church is strong and close. The ward was made up of so many different nationalities. The stake presidency has members from England, America and Nigeria! Crazy! During Sunday School we had a message by the Stake President who is so young, but really strong in the church and loves the people. We also went to Relief Society and made up about 75% of the group. The president was from Germany and it was neat to hear the lesson on temples and the sacrafices people have made to get to the temple, when I live so close and don't go as often as I should.

After church we went back for a quick dinner (which was great after fasting all day!). The potatoes that we ate looked exactly like the ones served in the new Pride and Prejudice! We all quoted the line from Mr. Collins that said, "These are lovely boiled potatoes". If you have not seen the movie...it is a must! Favorite of all time!

After dinner we went back to the church house to hear Elder Snow from the 70 and Brother and Sister Donaldson. It was great to hear them speak and then in the middle the Young Single Adult Choir sang. It was amazing. I have never felt the spirit so strong! They came from all over and had different accents but the church brought them toghether. They are so strong and you would have to be being the minority. What a testimony builder!

Afterwards we came back and had delicious (and thick) cheesecake! YUM!
Cheerio!

  1. The Hyde Park Stake President's sister lives in our Stake here in AZ. Do you remember his name? If you see him again, mention you are from Chandler. I know Carlie loves that Sister, just not sure of her married or maiden name. Love you Aubs.
